Montreal Trip

Went to Montreal last weekend for the bachelor party. A good time was had by all. Montreal is a great if not strange city. First it’s strange, yet cool, that you can drive 7 hours from NYC and feel like you’re in Europe. The city is odd though - that it seems mostly dead except for few blocks of the downtown area which are packed with people. Other than that, you barely see anyone walking on the streets or any cars driving around. We went to Le Ronde the Six Flags there, on opening day, and didn’t have to even wait on line to buy tickets. Just strange. Also went to Gibby’s in Old Montreal. Great steak, great atmosphere, wonderful service. Old Montreal seems very cool and next on my list of places to go is Quebec City which I heard is even cooler.
Everyone speaks French there and I’d say you hear it about 80% on the streets. There were some dissappointments though. Like the classic old French pastry shop which I thought I could go in and have a great crepe. The shop was run by Koreans though and the crepes were no better than a NYC street fair crepe. Also had dissapointing crossiant. Food highlights were Schwartz’s Deli and Gibby’s (see below). Of course, there was the classic Montreal “nightlife”. Sorry guys, no pictures from there.

A sickeningly amazing sandwich at the famous Schwartz’s Deli. The only deli outside New York that I think could hold a candle to Katz’s. Scarily, this is the medium-fatty cut. I’m afraid to see what the “fatty cut” looks like.
One of the great roller coasters at Six Flags (Le Ronde) in Montreal.

I definately have no regrets doing this amazing helicopter tour. $75 for 15 minutes. In NYC this would be $150 at least. When up in the air though, I was thinking how strange it is that they didn’t make us sign any papers, or even give our names before going up. We knew absolutely nothing about this company or the pilots! I was starting to question how wise the decision was, but luckly they got us back to the ground safe and sound. The Montreal aerial view is nothing compared to NYC but it was great just for the experience of being up in a helicopter at least.

It was a great trip and a great bachelor party! thanks for planning everything.
